I Wish To Proceed With Collaborative Family Law - How Do I
Do So?
It is of course necessary for both you and your
spouse or partner to want to use Collaborative Family Law. Assuming
you do, you will need to individually instruct a specially
trained collaborative family lawyer. The same lawyer cannot act
for both of you.
A list of some Collaborative Family Lawyers (who
have prepared this guide) is available on our
lawyers page. We are all specialists practicing in
separate firms but experienced in working constructively with
each other. A complete list of Collaborative Lawyers may be found
on the Resolution website.
The first stage is that each of you individually
meets with your own lawyer to ensure that the process is indeed
for you. Assuming you both agree that you wish to proceed, then
the lawyers will have a brief initial discussion and set up the
first way meeting at which the collaborative family law agreement
is entered into by the parties. The information gathering and
negotiation then begins.
If you would like to discuss any question arising
from this guide, or if you wish to set up an initial appointment
please contact one of the
Collaborative Family Lawyers. |
